A DIY Smart Lighting Installation

This past weekend, my son and I embarked on a project to bolster our home's external security by installing day/night sensor security lighting. This initiative is a strategic step in our broader plan to integrate remote WiFi CCTV cameras with our existing smart alarm system, creating a more comprehensive and proactive security infrastructure.

The installation itself was quite an undertaking, requiring considerable effort and coordination. My son, demonstrating impressive agility and determination, navigated the challenging confines of the ceiling void to meticulously pull cabling to all four main walls of the house, and subsequently, to the outbuilding. Simultaneously, I handled the electrical connections, carefully linking the new lighting circuits to our main distribution board and positioning the day/night sensors on the exterior walls of both structures.

While the process was undeniably demanding, the successful completion of this phase is incredibly satisfying. The new security lights are fully operational, providing enhanced illumination and acting as a visible deterrent. This foundational work paves the way for the seamless integration of our planned CCTV system, further fortifying our home's defenses.
