A Festive Family Getaway with the In-Laws

Another Christmas, another adventure! This time around, we swapped our usual festive traditions for something a little different: a trip to Brandvlei with my awesome in-laws. And let me tell you, it was an absolute blast!

My wife has always dreamed of showing her parents the house she owns in the Northern Cape. It's a special place for her, and she’d often talked about how much she wanted to share it with them. This year, we finally made that dream a reality! It felt even more important to make this trip happen because her dad has been dealing with the onset of vascular dementia, and his memory loss has become increasingly noticeable. We knew creating new, meaningful memories together was more precious than ever.

Despite the challenges, we managed to get them both to the house, and what a joyous and memorable holiday season it turned out to be! The greatest takeaway for me was seeing my wife get that precious opportunity to bond even more deeply with her parents. And, of course, our kids absolutely loved spending this special time all together, making memories that I'm sure will last a lifetime. It was a Christmas filled with warmth, laughter, and a whole lot of love – truly unforgettable!
