Granny Flat Water Supply and Finishings Fully Upgraded

After months of dedicated effort, weekend trips, and tackling essential tasks, we're excited to share a major milestone in our Brandvlei project: Phase One – the transformation of the granny flat – is now fully complete!

Our recent trip from March 20th to 25th, 2008, marked the final push to make the Karoo base camp fully functional. The focus was on the finishing touches that would ensure the space is comfortable, practical, and ready for use.

Timeline: 20 March 2008 – 25 March 2008
Progress Status: 100% Completed!

Here's a quick overview of what we achieved during this final phase:

  • Installed new front and back entrance doors, providing a secure upgrade to the granny flat.
  • Completed all electrical outlets throughout the space, making it fully functional for stays and future guests.
  • Installed two of six planned light fittings and both switches, brightening up the interior.
  • Serviced and reset the toilet system and wash basin for reliable operation.
  • Fixed and realigned waste pipes and water supply lines, ensuring a dependable plumbing system.

This is a significant step forward for the Brandvlei project. The granny flat is now a cozy, self-sufficient space—our ideal “Base camp” from which we can launch into the next exciting phase: upgrading the main house!

It’s been a journey filled with hard work, unexpected challenges, and valuable lessons. Seeing this space transformed is truly rewarding, and we’re now shifting our focus to breathe new life into the main homestead.
